Halloween Events in Detroit

The week of Halloween is finally upon us! There have been lots of Halloween events in the Detroit area going on for the entire month to get you psyched for the holiday, but it’s time to bust out the costumes and officially celebrate this weekend. If you don’t have a party to attend, don’t worry- Detroit has plenty of ways for you to get your spook on, no matter what age you are!

Halloween Events for the Kids

Trick or Treating

Obviously, Halloween’s best known tradition is trick or treating. You can take your kids trick or treating in your neighborhood, but there are also some other kid-friendly options to keep them out of the elements on Halloween night. For example, the Ann Arbor District Library is hosting a Halloween party in the morning, which will lead to the Main Street Halloween Treat Parade.

Halloween Parades

Speaking of parades, there are a few others you can take your little ones too around the area. Downtown Grosse Pointe, for example, has a Halloween parade through their main streets where costumed children will get treats from the stores in the area, as well as free books from the Grosse Pointe Public Library.

Corn Mazes

Don’t forget about hitting the corn mazes! Oakland County alone has four different corn mazes you can take the kids through (and hopefully not get lost in!) that are open through early November. Check out the Bowers Farm Corn Maze, which has over 3.5 miles of trails in three separate mazes!  There’s also corn mazes at the Long Family Orchard, Farm & Cider Mill, and at the fall festival at Oakhaven Farm.

Halloween Events for Adults

Costume Parties

Who doesn’t love a costume party on Halloween? Don’t miss Bleu Detroit’s Halloween Extravaganza and their Nightmare on Woodward party, with prizes for best costume and drink specials all night long. Also, Premier Night Club is hosting their 5th annual #QueMassacre, at their Statewide Halloween Party.

Haunted Houses

Detroit is not lacking in the Haunted Houses department! It’s been said that Detroit is the haunted-house capital of the United States. Here’s a list of many of the haunted attractions Detroit has to offer this Halloween: http://www.madmanmike.com/halloween_michigan.html#metro-detroit.

Haunted Detroit Tours

If it’s the “real” paranormal you’re into checking out, Detroit has many haunted tours available, too. Metro Paranormal Investigations is hosting tours of the USS Edson, one of America’s most decorated warships. Haunted Detroit Tours offers 2.5 hour long tours of haunted places in the Metro Detroit area, which includes transportation, history of the locations, and tour guides ready to communicate with the spirits.
